The Black Carers Project offers support
to black and other ethnic minority carers in Bristol in many ways, these
include: |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Information
- we can provide carers with information on the many issues surrounding
caring including financial advice, benefits and other services available.
We can also advise about other local community groups that may be able
to assist carers. We produce a magazine twice a year called 'Embrace'
which is sent out to carers as an information source on issues such as
carers legislation, health issues, etc. |

|
|
| |
|
|
| |
|
|
| |
Training Service
- we can provide training for carers on any subject that will help with
their caring role, for example moving and handling, dementia, and special
needs. We also provide training to other organisations to encourage them
to be more aware of issues that affect Black Carers. It is a fact that
Black Carers do not access mainstream services, so it is important that
other organisations try to meet their needs. |

Development Service
- as we meet and support Black Carers we identify needs that are not being
met. We endeavour to help community groups to develop services that are
accessible to carers. We can do this by ensuring that these groups are
well informed about issues that black carers face when accessing mainstream
services. We offer an outreach service to Black Carers. We go into carers
homes to offer support and/or signpost carers to services that can help.
Above all we are here to listen and support. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Support Group
- we run a carers support group every third Monday of the month, for carers to talk and share experiences in a safe environment etc. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Young Black Carers
- we also provide support to young Black Carers who are under 20 years
of age and caring for a parent, sibling or friend. (Contact us directly
to find out more). |
