We often get asked about the different types of support we can offer. Sometimes people need clarification about what we can provide for them. We provide information, practical support (via a Care Attendant Scheme for African/African Caribbean carers) outreach, advocacy and development support. We also have a young carers and a volunteer project. Below are some answers to common questions we get asked. We hope this helps to illustrate what we can and can't provide. |

| I need information on benefits - can I get that from you? | ||
| Yes! We can advise you about what carers benefits you may be entitled and what organisations to contact. However as details regarding benefits change frequently we recommend that you talk to a benefits advisor for more accurate information. | ||
| I work for a Bristol based organisation and we are keen to get information on carers issues so that we can develop our service - can you help? | ||
| Networking and building working relationships with other organisations is very important to us. We try to promote partnership work wherever possible and can offer information on local organisations, Black Carers issues etc, but we don't offer organisations the direct service we provide to carers. We just try to promote networking. | ||

We never send anybody away without help, ever! Even if we can't help you we can signpost you on to an organisation that can. Please ring us for a chat and to arrange an appointment. Everyone's situation is different and we will always do what we can to help. |

I am a carer in need of assistance and would love to get help from the Black Carers Project but I am a private person and don't want people knowing my business. |

Unfortunately it is possible that someone you know may be part of our team of staff. However, all staff sign a confidentiality policy document when they join us. Our service is completely confidential so please don't let this stop you from getting the help you deserve. |
